Two Birds With One Stone

Every once in a while, there comes a shoot that feels like a pinch-me moment. This one, shooting for Outlaw Gear, was exactly that.

Working with Outlaw Gear is always great fun. They’re one of my favourite clients, giving me the creative freedom. That’s got to be every photographer’s dream. Showcasing their high-end clothing and accessories is a treat, and to top it off, they’ve even gifted me a few pieces that I absolutely adore.

But this time around, shooting for them felt even more special. As they enter their second year in the game, it’s incredible to see them thriving, with a lineup of accessories and clothing that’s better than ever, whilst also expanding. And let’s not forget the cherry on top – the cool cars that always make an appearance, whether it’s their Porsche 911 SC or my mate’s Porsche 964. Speaking of which, he couldn’t make it to the shoot this time, so he handed me the keys so that it could still be used. This is a massive help in itself.

Now, driving someone else’s car is always a nerve-wracking experience. But when it’s a 1990 Porsche, the stakes feel even higher.

The following day, I picked up the car. I could feel the weight of responsibility as I started the engine for the first time, remembering my friend’s words: “You bin it, you bought it.” That reminder became very clear in my mind. Making sure to give it the warm-up it deserved before hitting the road. I set out, cautious yet excited. Maneuvering through the gears, I couldn’t deny the thrill – or the occasional stall (okay, maybe more than occasional).

With my friend modelling the clothing and teasing me about my driving skills, or lack of, the shoot took on an extra layer of fun. Despite the weather’s less-than-ideal mood, we managed to capture some stunning shots, making the most of our time before the cold got to us and the clouds became moody. The last thing we wanted was to be caught in the rain, which never seems to be stopping at the minute.

As we wrapped up the shoot and headed home, taking the scenic route to give the car a proper heat cycle (or so I claimed), I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the experience. With enough images to showcase their new pieces for their site and hopefully bring them more traffic, it was a successful day all around.

So, if you haven’t already, be sure to check out the Outlaw Gear website and Instagram. They’re a local gem with some seriously cool gear. And while you’re at it, swing by my Instagram too. If you just want to drop me a line to say hi then that’s the place to do it. If you’d like to message about a shoot either contact me on this website or again you can drop me a line or two on my Instagram page.

Cheers
