As with any adventure starting in Lincolnshire, it meant an early rise to be ready for a couple-hour drive to get to our location. We had to get up and then head over to Grimsby first to meet up with my friends. Once packed up and ready our first stop was the supermarket to stock up on travel snacks. I think this is probably something mandatory for most trips away. All stocked up with sugar and carbs we set off. Our location, the Yorkshire Dales.

Myself and my friend were described as “old men” by our partners for chatting on the phone to one another saying how we needed to get out more and do more walking. We found a route on Instagram that took our fancy. It was roughly a 5-mile loop visiting Janet’s Foss, Gordale Scar and Malham Cove. Malham Cove is known for its role in one of the Harry Potter films. With the sun out and wind low it was a very busy day with many people ravelling to do this route. The loop itself is not a challenging route and is well signposted throughout with a clear path as well. This made it very easy to do.
The whole route is scenic and a great walk showing off some gorgeous countryside, as you would expect from the Yorkshire Dales. The waterfalls at Janet Foss and Gordal Scar were bliss, to say the least. Leading to some nice photos as well. With the great weather and great walk, it left us all rather hungry. With Malham being very busy with all the visitors we decided to look for food on our way home. We found a lovely little pub called The Old Swan. Finishing the day off with a pint of Guinness and a pie meant for a rather drowsy drive home.

We couldn’t believe our luck as, as soon as we got closer to Grimsby the heavens opened and the rain came crashing down. Quite the change from the blue skies and hot weather we had on our walk.

As always I will post some of the images from our walk on my Instagram and some may also make it onto my gallery page. If anyone would like to have a look into this walk the postcode for the area is BD23 4DJ. It has a vast amount of parking and toilets.
Disclaimer: Walks tend to be more fun with furry friends. Ours was the little guy Stan.
