It was up there with one of my favourite events I’ve been to. It was more than just a car show. It was a car show displaying classic and race heritage Porsches artistically.
The weekend for me: started on Friday by going and staying over at a friend’s house with his wife. We spent the evening talking; all sorts of rubbish whilst polishing off a bottle of wine. During his time I may have forgotten about the early start the next morning. At what felt like the crack of dawn with a slightly fuzzy head I woke at 9 am to get changed and packed up to start our Megaphonics journey.
The first job of the day was to load up the van with all bits Outlaw Gear for them. Once completed we started our 100-odd mile drive down to Boxengasse in Bicester. With a lot of kit to pack thankfully our days of playing Tetris paid off getting all the kit loaded and if I’m honest we probably would have had room for more if we tried. Once on the road the music started and the excitement began to build. We were ready for it. With a few road works, interesting route choices, and he won’t mind me saying, and a few laps around roundabouts by the Outlay Gear crew we made it. It may have been 4 hours late but all the same, we made it. The setup was then in full swing.

I might have struggled to stay concentrated as there were three Porsche Carrera GTs parked up on display. I don’t think I’ve seen so many in one place before. There was a stunning little 914 parked up as well sunbathing in full display. After an hour or so the display was sorted and me and Ollie took a little stroll around to get a lay of the land. It was also hard to keep our jaws off the floor during this. Whilst taking our little recognisance trip more people were arriving and cars were coming in. This included a nice little Porsche 356. We knew this was going to be a special event.

After a while, it was time to head back to the hotel to freshen up, have a drink or two and get some food in our bodies. Once arriving at the hotel the automotive display didn’t end with some rare, well-kept cars there.
Sunday arrived with a rather rude 7 am alarm. After a belly full of breakfast we headed over to Boxengasse for the Megaphonics event and to do the final bits to the stall for Outlaw Gear. Once this was complete we were free agents. Like kids in a candy store, we didn’t know where to start first. so we just walked. I had both my Nikon D850 and my Nikon D750 of my dual harness ready for anything. There wasn’t just anything though, there was everything……..Like everything.

I’m talking 914s, 356s, 930 Turbos, 911 SCs, the previously mentioned Carrera GTs with an addition of another turning up and also two, yes two, 959s. It was insane. Everywhere we went there was something cool whether it was on a stand or in the car park. As the day went on we got so used to seeing so much variety we would be walking past modern GT cars and not even taking a second look.
The weather for the day was hot, high 20’s kind of hot. If you’re reading this and not from the UK then yes that is hot for us. Halfway through the day I popped my Nikon cameras away and put on my Leca M11 and my M Monochrom. I just couldn’t stop photographing things. It was easy as well as all the cars were displayed so well. After getting there at 07:30-08:00 it came a time around 1600ish to start packing up after being given to go ahead. After cooking in the heat all day this process was a lot more streamlined than the packing at the other end was. Before we knew it, it was all over just as quickly as it started.

Unfortunately with me walking through the door past 9 pm, I had to concentrate on getting my food ready for my week at work before my 5 am alarm went off the next morning. I fit in whatever I could time-wise to edit but I was reliving it all over again looking through my images.
All the images taken on my M Monochrome from this Megaphonics will get put into an album/blog of their own. They came out better than I had hoped. The 12-year-old 18MP monochrome camera truly earned its keep within my, what could now be classed as, a camera collection.

Finally, a big thank you to Outlaw Gear for inviting me along with them and a big shout out to Boxengasse and Frank for creating Megaphonics, which is such an awesome event. As always keep an eye on my Instagram as there may be pictures that pop up on there that may not be featured here. If you’d like your pride and joy photographed by me then feel free to contact me.
I hope you enjoyed the read and images.
